Directed by Franciska Éry Piano: Michael Sikich Barman: Michael Papadopoulos In a Royal Opera first to celebrate World Opera Day the Jette Parker Young Artists have teamed up with female-led creative teams to stage three special pieces for solo female voice and piano specifically for online viewing: Haydn’s Arianna a Naxos, Poulenc’s La Dame de Monte-Carlo, and Heggie’s At The Statue of Venus, available to view until 24 November 2020. Soprano Alexandra Lowe stars in Poulenc’s quirky portrait of addiction and loss. This topical interpretation is a love letter to the Royal Opera House which allows a peek into its abandoned spaces as we see an artist who misses the stage. The disoriented diva becomes unable to square truth and fiction. These events are taking place as part of Meet the Young Artists Week, an annual opportunity to get to know the new intake of Jette Parker Young Artists and check back in with returning artists.
